So, you think you need an elf on the shelf cheat sheet in your life? Don’t we all!
Use this nifty cheat sheet to make planning your elf antics a jiffy. Just print it out and put it in a safe place where curious eyes won’t find it! (or pin this post to your Pinterest!)
There’s one easy – yes, VERY easy! – idea for the first 25 days of December. Most of these ideas don’t involve purchasing any special props, and what props are used are either typical Christmas decorations (stockings, tree, wrapping paper) or holiday baking supplies such as marshmallows, chocolate chips, and candy canes.

- December 1st – Elf arrives with a personalized letter to the child.
- December 2nd – Elf makes a snow angel with flour on the kitchen table or counter.
- December 3rd – Where’s elf? In the car with his seat belt on, of course!
- December 4th – Elf is coloring a cute Christmas-related picture.
- December 5th – Elf has written out a fun message using… candy!
- December 6th – Elf has eaten the candy message. Wrappers everywhere!
- December 7th – Elf draws mustaches on the family photos using erasable marker!
- December 8th – Elf is having fun “wearing” Christmas stockings or just playing in them.
- December 9th – Elf is drinking maple syrup or honey with a straw.
- December 10th – Elf has made a zipline across the ceiling using a string and candy cane!
- December 11th – Elf has delivered an important message from Santa, in the mailbox or in a package.
- December 12th – Elf makes a choo choo train using the family’s shoes.
- December 13th – Elf has cut the toilet paper into snowflakes!
- December 14th – Elf is taking a nap in a Kleenex box.
- December 15th – Elf unravels the toilet paper all around the house!
- December 16th – Elf is watching the movie “Elf” on TV
- December 17th – Elf has a snowball fight with another toy (using mini-marshmallows)
- December 18th – Elf has gotten all the ingredients out to make Christmas cookies!
- December 19th – Elf needed to go potty… using a glass and mini chocolate chips, oops!
- December 20th – Elf is using wrapping paper tubes in boots as stilts
- December 21st – Elf’s flying around the ceiling fan
- December 22nd – Elf leaves a funny message on the mirror using lipstick or erasable marker.
- December 23rd – Elf is wrapping presents.
- December 24th – Elf reads The Night Before Christmas
- December 25th – Elf has left a note in the Christmas tree and has gone back to the North Pole to be with Santa.
